The AI Instagram Strategy Audit

One copy-paste prompt that audits your Instagram like a commercially-minded strategist — what's working, what's limiting your growth, and how to turn profile visitors into followers, leads and customers. You get a polished visual report, in about 2 minutes.

What's inside

You don't need a social media manager to tell you why your Instagram isn't converting. This prompt turns ChatGPT (or Claude) into a commercially-minded strategist who reviews your actual account and hands back a full audit — profile scorecard, content patterns, two rewritten bios, content pillars and a 30-day plan. Three steps:

1

Open ChatGPT (or Claude)

A free account works. Start a fresh chat so the audit isn't muddled by an old conversation.

2

Paste the prompt and fill in the [INSERT] blanks

Your handle, what you sell, who you help, your main goal and your current priority. Two minutes of honesty here shapes the whole audit.

3

Attach your screenshots or Insights exports and send

Profile screenshots plus your Instagram Insights from the last 30 or 90 days. The more evidence you attach, the sharper the audit.

What comes back

A five-second profile test, what's working (and why), what's underperforming, two improved bios inside the 150-character limit, three or four content pillars, a realistic 30-day plan and your three next actions — presented as a polished, mobile-friendly visual report.

Important: this prompt is outward-facing

It works from your public profile plus whatever screenshots you attach — it can't see your private Instagram Insights on its own. For the inside metrics (reach, saves, follows, link clicks), attach Insights screenshots — or connect ChatGPT to your Instagram account if you have that integration available — so the audit works from real numbers instead of guesses.

The prompt is built to be honest about this: it separates confirmed findings from strategic interpretation, and it will ask you for missing information rather than inventing metrics. Feed it well and it behaves like a strategist; feed it nothing and it can only judge what a stranger sees. Worth screenshotting before you start:

Your profile and bio (as a visitor sees it)
Insights from the last 30 or 90 days
Reach, engagement + follower growth
Your top and lowest-performing posts
Reel views and watch time
Profile visits, follows + link clicks

Where to find your Insights

In the Instagram app: your profile → the menu (three lines) → Insights. Screenshot the overview, then tap into Content You've Shared and screenshot your top posts sorted by reach, saves and profile visits. Ten screenshots beats zero — but even three makes the audit dramatically better.

Copy it, fill in the [INSERT] blanks, attach your screenshots, send. It runs the full seven-part audit and finishes with a visual report you can actually act on.

# Create My Instagram Strategy Audit

Act as a commercially minded Instagram strategist.

Help me understand what is working, what is limiting my growth, and how to turn more profile visitors into followers, leads or customers.

## My business

Business/account name: [INSERT]

Instagram handle or profile URL: [INSERT]

What I sell: [INSERT]

Who I help: [INSERT]

The result I help them achieve: [INSERT]

My main Instagram goal: [GROW FOLLOWERS / BUILD AUTHORITY / GENERATE LEADS / SELL AN OFFER]

The single action I want profile visitors to take: [INSERT]

My current priority offer or campaign: [INSERT]

My brand personality: [INSERT 3–5 WORDS]

## Evidence

I will attach any available:

- Profile and bio screenshots
- Instagram Insights from the last 30 or 90 days
- Account reach, engagement and follower growth
- Top and lowest-performing posts
- Reel views and watch time
- Likes, comments, saves and shares
- Profile visits, follows and link clicks

Start by reviewing everything I provide.

If important information is missing, ask me for it before drawing conclusions. You may inspect my public profile if browsing is available, but do not invent private metrics or claim that you accessed Instagram Insights unless I supplied them.

Clearly distinguish:

1. Confirmed findings from my evidence
2. Reasonable strategic interpretations
3. Things that require more data

## Complete the audit

### 1. Five-second profile test

Evaluate whether a new visitor can immediately understand:

- Who the account is for
- What I help them achieve
- Why they should trust me
- What they should do next

Identify anything confusing, generic, crowded or missing.

### 2. What is working

Find patterns across my strongest content, including:

- Topics
- Problems addressed
- Hooks
- Formats
- Emotional triggers
- Content length
- Calls to action
- Personal stories
- Proof or demonstrations
- Comments, saves, shares and follower conversion

Explain why each pattern appears to work and how I can repeat it without copying the same post.

Link to or clearly identify the supporting posts.

### 3. What is underperforming

Identify content that receives attention without meaningful action, as well as content that receives neither.

Explain whether the likely issue is:

- Topic
- Hook
- Format
- Positioning
- Lack of specificity
- Weak proof
- Unclear call to action
- Offer mismatch
- Repetition
- Poor profile conversion

Do not judge a recent post too quickly. Consider how long it has been live.

### 4. Bio optimisation

Review my:

- Username
- Searchable name field
- Profile image
- Bio
- Link
- Pinned posts
- Highlights

Create two improved bios:

1. A campaign bio for my current priority
2. An evergreen bio for normal periods

Each bio must:

- Stay within Instagram's 150-character bio limit
- Say who I help
- Communicate a meaningful outcome
- Sound like a real person
- Include one clear next step
- Avoid vague claims and unnecessary jargon

Also recommend a searchable name field and explain what my first link should lead to.

### 5. Content strategy

Create three or four repeatable content pillars based on the evidence.

For each pillar, provide:

- Its strategic job
- Audience problem
- Recommended format
- Three post ideas
- Example hooks
- Best call to action
- Metric I should use to judge it

Balance discovery, trust, conversion and direct selling.

### 6. Thirty-day plan

Build a realistic four-week plan.

For every post include:

- Day
- Content pillar
- Format
- Topic
- Hook
- Core message
- Call to action
- Intended business outcome

Prioritise quality and repeatability over daily posting.

### 7. Immediate priorities

Finish with:

- Three actions for the next 72 hours
- What I should stop doing
- What I should repeat
- The most important metric to watch
- What additional Insights would improve the audit

## Present it visually

Create a polished, mobile-friendly visual report in Canvas or as an interactive webpage if that option is available.

Use:

- A strong opening verdict
- Profile scorecard
- Scannable evidence cards
- Before-and-after bio comparison
- Performance table
- Content-pillar overview
- Thirty-day calendar
- Clear priority actions
- Copy buttons for the new bios if supported

Use my existing brand colours and imagery if I provide them.

If an interactive visual report is unavailable, produce the same information as a clean, well-structured report directly in the conversation.

Do not prioritise vanity metrics. Focus on attracting the right audience and moving them towards a meaningful business action.

If it hedges, push back

If the answer feels wishy-washy, reply: "Be decisive — give me a verdict and commit to your recommendations." And if it claims to have seen metrics you never attached, call it out — the prompt tells it not to, but it pays to keep it honest.

Two upgrades worth doing

1 Drop your website URL into the same chat. The prompt tells the AI to use your brand colours and imagery if you provide them — your site is the fastest way to hand them over, and the visual report comes back looking like it was made for your brand, not a generic template.
2 Re-run it quarterly. Keep each report, compare the scorecards, and you've got a running record of whether your profile is actually converting better — not just a vibe.

Then actually do the 72-hour actions

The audit ends with three actions for the next 72 hours. That's the whole point — swap your bio, pin the right post, film the first pillar video. An audit you read and file changes nothing; an audit you act on changes the next 90 days.

Ready to go deeper?

If a single prompt can do this, imagine what AI can do for the rest of your business.
