Connect a 2nd (or 3rd) Gmail account
If you run a personal inbox and a business one — or manage inboxes for more than one brand — ChatGPT doesn't make you pick just one any more. Its plugins panel lets you connect as many Gmail accounts as you actually use.
Open Settings and find Plugins
In ChatGPT, click your name or the gear icon to open Settings, then find the Plugins (sometimes labelled Connectors) section.
Search for Gmail
Type "Gmail" in the plugins search bar. You'll see the Gmail connector — this is what lets ChatGPT read and act on your inbox.
Hit "Add account"
Click Add account and sign in with your first Gmail. Once it's connected, click Add account again and sign in with your second (or third) Gmail — same button, every time.
That's the whole setup
No separate app, no browser extension, nothing to install. Every account you add shows up as its own connected inbox inside ChatGPT — you can add, remove, or reconnect any of them any time from that same Plugins screen.
Tell it which inbox to check
Once you've got two or more Gmail accounts connected, ChatGPT needs to know which one you mean — it won't guess for you. The fix is simple: name the account (or the email address) in your prompt, the same way you'd tell a person which inbox to look in.
Check my business Gmail (name@yourbusiness.com) for any unread emails from clients today. Search my personal Gmail for the flight confirmation email from last week. Look across both my Gmail accounts and pull together anything that needs a reply before Friday.
The trick that saves the back-and-forth
Use the exact email address, or a clear label like "business Gmail" vs "personal Gmail," every single time you ask — even after the first prompt. ChatGPT doesn't remember which one you meant last time in a new chat, so a little repetition up front beats a wrong-inbox answer.
Do the same for Google Calendar
Same panel, same button, different search term. If you keep a personal calendar and a business one, connect both and ChatGPT can check availability across them together — genuinely useful the day you're trying to find one clean 30-minute gap.
Settings → Plugins, again
Same screen as before. This time, search "Google Calendar" instead of Gmail.
Add account for each calendar
Click Add account and connect your first calendar, then repeat for any others you want checked at once.
Check both my personal and business Google Calendars and tell me every 30-minute gap I have free this Thursday between 9am and 5pm.
The Claude equivalent
Claude users aren't left out — Claude has its own version of this called Connectors. It lives in a slightly different spot but does the same job: connect Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Drive) so Claude can read and act on your accounts inside a chat.
Open Settings → Connectors
In Claude.ai, go to Settings and find the Connectors section.
Add the Google Workspace connector
Connect your first Gmail/Calendar account, then look for an option to add another account the same way you did in ChatGPT.
One honest caveat
Multi-account support moves fast on both platforms, and Claude's Connectors screen can look different depending on your plan. If you only see a spot to connect one Google account at a time, that's not you doing it wrong — check back on that Settings → Connectors page, since this is exactly the kind of feature that gets a quiet update.
What to actually do with it
Connecting the accounts is the easy part — here's where it actually saves you time.
One inbox sweep, both accounts
Instead of opening two tabs every morning, ask once: "Check both my Gmail accounts and summarise anything that needs a reply today." One prompt, both inboxes, one list.
A cross-account calendar view
"Combine my personal and business calendars and show me what my week actually looks like." No more manually cross-checking two calendar tabs before you book anything.
You choose what each account exposes
Connecting an account doesn't hand over everything by default — you approve the connection, and you can disconnect any single account at any time from the same Plugins (or Connectors) screen, without touching the others. Start with read-only questions ("summarise," "check," "tell me") before you ask it to send or delete anything.
